PATRICK BLACKWELL, Event Director for the Colorado Convention Center and the Wells Fargo Theatre
Patrick Blackwell started in the event staffing industry in 1995, while working part-time crowd management for the Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche. A friend had urged him to apply as a lark, and he quickly discovered the fun of working a variety of events.
For the next few years, Mr. Blackwell worked many different staffing positions ranging from usher to backstage at the Denver Coliseum, McNichols Sports Arena, Mile High Stadium and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
In 1999 Mr. Blackwell began working on the Club Level at the newly opened Pepsi Center. In 2002 he moved to Assistant Backstage Supervisor, where he worked until in 2004 when he was recruited to become the Event Director at the Colorado Convention Center and the Wells Fargo Theatre, the position he currently holds.
